"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 10:1
I spent the first 25 years of my life growing up on a farm in rural Georgia. I was raised by a single mom and spent many years living with my grandparents. I learned from a very early age the value of honesty, integrity, hard work, family, and most of all faith in a God who gives us strength to overcome any circumstance.
I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. After moving to SC, I completed my Masters Degree in Elementary Education. During those years I taught K-5 in District 7 & 4th grade in District 2. I was blessed to be able to stay home for several years to raise my children. After the birth of my 3rd son, I taught 5th grade in District 6, 4th grade in District 7, then went back to school and received my Ed.S in Marriage and Family Therapy. I completed my residency work at Westgate Family Therapy working with children, adults, and families. I spent several years studying brain research in trauma survivors. In transition back to the classroom, I taught 2nd grade at Spartanburg Day School, and worked as an adjunct professor at Spartanburg Community College and as a University Supervisor at USC-Upstate.
